For the November issue of the journal Učitelský Měsíčník (03/2020), we wrote a detailed article introducing the PBIS for schools. You will learn how to implement some PBIS principles in the classroom that help prevent inappropriate behavior of students. You will get familiar, for example, with practical advice on how to adjust the physical structure of classrooms or how to unify positive formulations of expectations and appropriate approaches to children at risk. All these procedures can be implemented immediately in individual classes or systematically and school-wide, which will further increase the positive impact on pupils’ behavior.
The article describes in detail the 1st tier of behavior support, i.e., proactive primary prevention, which is aimed at all pupils in a class or school without distinction. Information on intensified support for groups of children who require targeted Tier 2 support, or on providing highly individualized Tier 3 support for pupils with complex needs, will be in future continually supplemented on our website www.pbiscr.cz.
